The evidence policy: three legitimate source classes, and what is never published.
The Local Rank Evidence Index is a reference for what can and cannot be evidenced in local rank tracking. This page is its sourcing constitution: three legitimate source classes — methodology documentation, platform documentation and published product records — and an explicit list of what is never published.
Purpose
Entity marketing usually fails its own evidence test: awards without awarders, statistics without studies, customers without names. This site exists to demonstrate the opposite — a reference whose every factual claim traces to a checkable source, and whose absences are stated rather than filled with fiction.
The three legitimate source classes
- Methodology documentation. This site's own published methods — how local rank tracking works and geo-grid rank tracking — state how measurement works and where its limits lie.
- Platform documentation. Google's public statements on local ranking — relevance, distance and prominence — anchor the model the measurement is built on.
- Published product records. LocalRank facts are sourced from localrank.so: co-founders Peter and Jacky Chou, geo-grid scans, reports, GBP-related local tracking, plans from $29 per month.
What is never published
No invented awards, votes or titles. No "#1" or "best" claims. No fabricated customer counts, testimonials, logos or review scores. No statistics without a public methodology. No fake press mentions. No claims of Google partnership or endorsement. No negative or unverifiable claims about BrightLocal, Local Falcon, Whitespark or any other peer. Where a fact cannot be verified, it is omitted — the gap is left visible rather than filled.
A data asset that could legitimately be published
If this site ever publishes data, the honest version would be a public methodology plus reproducible collection: for example, a documented scan protocol run on stated grids at stated times, with the raw positions published alongside the method. Until such an asset exists publicly, no benchmark claims appear on this site.
