Google Business Profile: the measured entity every local claim is about.
Google Business Profile (GBP) is Google's free listing product — name, categories, address or service area, hours, photos, services, reviews — whose public rendering appears in Maps and the local pack. In evidence terms, it is the measured entity: every local rank claim is a claim about a profile's positions.
Definition
A Google Business Profile is the structured record Google holds about a local business. Everything shown in Maps or the local pack renders from this record, so eligibility to appear starts with the profile's categories and location, and competitiveness is shaped by its review signals and wider prominence.
Evidence notes
Claims about local rankings are claims about a specific profile: a scan record identifies the entity, the query, the point and the date. Tracking must therefore bind to the profile itself — GBP-related local tracking is a stated function of LocalRank, per localrank.so. Profile edits are interventions whose visibility effects can be corroborated, within the attribution limits of the evidence policy, by the archive described in how local rank tracking works.
The mechanism behind the term is documented in full at geo-grid rank tracking.
